We’ve added a brand new photo gallery for the 1977-1978 season:
Memories of the Revolutionary War
June 16-19, 1978. Two hundred years after the encampment of the American Continental Army, Valley Forge celebrated the sacrifices of brave patriots with a multi-day, grand scale military reenactment. Music was composed to honor the people that withstood horrendous living conditions, faced adversity, shaped a nation – and left bloody footprints in the snow.
The Phoenixville Area Historical Society has published the original newsletter describing the Ballad of Valley Forge and related events.
The National Park Service has posted a portion of Lorett Treese’s book: Valley Forge: Making and Remaking a National Symbol, that describes this commemoration.
Have a happy and safe Independence Day weekend!
